TutorAide Inc. ("we", "our", "TutorAide") is committed to protecting the privacy of its users. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in accordance with Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Information We Collect

  • Identification information: first name, last name, date of birth, email address, phone number, mailing address, profile photo
  • Information about minors (students): name, date of birth, grade level, relationship with parent/legal guardian
  • Tutor information: qualifications, biography, Social Insurance Number (SIN) for T4A tax slips, banking information for payments, geographic coordinates
  • Payment information: credit card information (processed by Stripe), invoice and payment history
  • Usage data: appointments, session history, messages exchanged, ratings and comments
  • Technical data: IP address, device type, login data and preferences

2. Why We Collect This Data

  • Create and manage your account
  • Match clients with appropriate tutors
  • Process payments and issue invoices
  • Communicate with you (reminders, confirmations)
  • Issue tax slips (T4A for tutors)
  • Ensure platform security
  • Improve our services

3. Data Sharing

We only share your data with:

  • Stripe Inc. – Credit card payment processing
  • Google LLC – Geolocation and authentication services
  • Apple Inc. – Push notifications (APNs)
  • Revenu Québec / CRA – T4A tax slips (tutors only)

We never sell your personal information.

4. Data Protection

  • Encryption of sensitive data (SIN, authentication secrets)
  • Passwords hashed with secure algorithm
  • Secure connections (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Restricted access to sensitive data

5. Data Retention

  • Account data: as long as the account is active
  • Tax data: 7 years (legal requirement)
  • Messages: 2 years after last activity
  • Deleted data: erased within 30 days of request

6. Your Rights

Under Law 25, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Withdraw your consent
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Obtain a copy of your data (portability)

7. Data About Minors

We collect data about minor students only with the consent of the parent or legal guardian. This data is used exclusively for managing tutoring sessions.
